In its charter of new-age education the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has consistently focused on the holistic development of the children – in body, mind and spirit – across the CISCE affiliate schools across India and overseas.
This is also aligned to the Government of India’s new initiative of identifying sporting talents among the school students and developing sports schools through the Khelo India School Games and the Khelo India Scheme.
CISCE has embarked on a mission to conduct the CISCE National School Sports & Games annually from 2018, in order to identify talents at the school level and provide these students a suitable platform to showcase their talents and skills, enabling them to develop and reach their full potential.
It is the our aim to provide a suitable platform and an opportunity to all children studying in our affiliated schools to showcase their talents and skills in the various sporting disciplines. Once identified, the next step is to play on a bigger stage and represent the Council at the annual National School Games conducted by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) and thereafter at the Khelo India School Games.
CISCE is one of the first Education Boards in India to include Physical Education as a subject in our Class 10 & 12 Syllabuses. Annual School Sports is an integral part of every one of our affiliated schools in India and abroad.
- To inculcate in the young minds a spirit of healthy competition while exhibiting their talents and potential.
- To help students develop an all-round personality and bring out the best in them to pave a bright future associated with sports and games activities.
CISCE has framed a set of rules and regulations by incorporating the existing rules and regulations of various sports federations. These are essential to conduct the national events smoothly and successfully and should be strictly adhered to by the host regions of the national events and the participants.

CISCE National Pre-Subroto Football Cup 2022
With the resumption of CISCE sporting activities after a gap of more than two years owing to the pandemic it has committed its participation in the 61st edition of the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament 2022.
As is widely known the Subroto Cup tournament is named after the first Indian Chief of Air Staff (Late) Air Chief Marshal Subroto Mukherjee. His vision of grass-root level development of football took shape in 1960 with the formation of the Subroto Mukherjee Sports Education Society and this paved the way for the biggest soccer tournament in India starting with a small participation of 50 schools, today the participation stands at a remarkable level with 34,000 schools nationwide.
The CISCE Pre-Subroto Football Cup 2022, earmarked for Junior Boys (Under 17 years) was conducted in two phases – CISCE Regional Pre-Subroto Cup conducted across 12 defined regions throughout the country followed by the CISCE National Pre-Subroto Cup in Kolkata at the Sports Authority of India Football Ground, Salt Lake, which was held in Kolkata from July 27 to 30, 2022. Twelve school teams participated in the tournament and the final match was between St. Paul’s School, Odisha and Bombay Scottish, Maharashtra. St. Paul’s School was the winner of the CISCE National Pre Subroto Cup and represented CISCE at the 61st Subroto Cup International Football tournament held in October, 2022 in Delhi.
